Mickalene Thomas 'Portrait of Maya No. 10' Recycled Tote Bag

$ 20.00

The Mickalene Thomas Portrait of Maya No. 10 Recycled Tote Bag brings the artist’s bold, unapologetic vision of Black femininity to a wearable work of art. Based on intimate photographs Thomas took of her muse and former lover Maya in their Brooklyn home and studio, the portrait pairs glamour and sensuality with a confident celebration of the female form. Thomas challenges conventional ideas of race, gender, sexuality, beauty, and representation while celebrating Black femininity, confidence, and self-expression. Made for everyday use with a weight capacity of up to 44 lbs., this reusable art tote carries Thomas’s provocative contemporary portraiture beyond the museum walls.
